Chapter 7

Gavin

Monday

I bring my phone up to my ear as I step through a side door of the station. I listen to the line ring as I wait for my little misfit to answer.

“Hello?”

“Hey, babe.”

“Hi, baby, how’s work? I miss you.”

I grunt. “I’m not on patrol until later tonight so it’s been boring as hell so far, and it’s only been a couple of hours.”

“Good. Boring is good. Let’s keep it that way.”

I chuckle at that. My little misfit worries about me getting hurt on the job. It’s what I signed up for when I decided to go into law enforcement, but my girl is still learning to accept it.

“I’ll do my best, babe.”

“You better.”

I shake my head.

Such a pain.

“How’s your day been?”

“Pretty good. We had a pop quiz today in anatomy but it wasn’t too hard. I did a little extra math studying during lunch because we started a new section today and I want to make sure I understand the content.”

“That’s my girl. What’d you eat?”

I always ask what she’s eaten when I don’t take her to lunch or bring her something. She’s not a fan of the food at her school so sometimes she chooses not to eat. Something I’m always grilling her ass about because I don’t want her skipping meals.

“I knew you were going to ask me that at some point.”

I smirk. “Then answer the question.”

“I had a banana, and a turkey sandwich with fries. Does that meet your standards, daddy?” Her voice is sugary sweet but I know she’s being sarcastic.

My dick still reacts in my pants at hearing her call me ‘daddy’ though. It always does when she calls me that.

I lower my voice. “Watch it.”

She giggles. “I love it when you get worked up over me.”

I roll my eyes. “Is that why you act like such a bad girl all the time?”

“Maybe,” she answers jokingly. “But I was actually a good girl today, thank you very much. I called the doctor’s office and scheduled an appointment.”

She’s right, she was a good girl.

“When is it?”

“Early tomorrow morning — before school. They had a last minute cancellation and told me I could come then.”

Shit, I won’t be off in time to make it.

“I’ll still be at work,” I tell her.

“I know, it’s okay. I can go by myself — I don’t mind.”

“I know but you shouldn’t have to go by yourself, I should be going with you.”

I curse under my breath in frustration.

She wouldn’t even need to have an appointment if I could keep my dick out of her, or at least force myself to wear a rubber. But I’d rather go through the police academy again with a blindfold on and my arms tied behind my back, before pushing inside Gina with a barrier between us. Just the idea of it has my body tensing.

“Baby, relax. Let me do this for us. I want to.”

I sigh. I know she’s right. She’s gotta do this so I don’t fuck around and knock her up one of these days.
